inThemes - Unofficial iGoogle Themes Directory

inThemes

Google has its own official iGoogle Themes Directory so that you can get themes of your choice for your Personalized Google homepage easily. But the problem was, you need to browse all the directory to find the best theme. Recently Google launched Search for the iGoogle theme directory which made the task little easier. Still there is no way to browse themes by category, if you want themes on Nature, Sports, Entertainment you have to either search the whole directory or keep entering search terms until you find what you're looking for.

inThemes.com is a unofficial directory for iGoogle themes that you can use onto Google's Personalized homepage. This gallery is created by Sterling Udell, one of the top developers working with the Google Themes API.

Themes are divided up into categories and subcategories. User will find themes of their choices easily now. Since each theme submitted to inThemes is reviewed before it's added to the gallery, you will get only high quality themes.

OS X turns VII

"A lot can change in just a few years: take OS X, for example. On March 24, 2001, Apple released OS X 10.0, code-named Cheetah. It was the first ground-up overhaul of the Mac OS since its introduction in 1984, and it brought with it design changes that would shake the platform for years to come: BSD-based underpinnings, true preemptive multitasking, and, of course, the Aqua interface. Not only did it usher in the era of computing in which we now live, but it brought Apple along for the ride." - Read Full on Macworld

2 Ways to Rename Recycle Bin in Windows XP

Recycle Bin

I have told you about How to Hide/Un-Hide Recycle Bin Icon on Desktop in XP. Most peoples don't want that annoying Recycle Bin Icon on there Desktop. But some of you, like me, want to leave (give it a chance) the Recycle Bin Icon on Desktop but don't want the traditional name Recycle Bin.

Here I am listing 2 ways to Rename the Recycle Bin Icon. You can rename the Recycle Bin to what ever you want like Trash, Garbage, Dust Bin etc.

To rename the Recycle Bin all you have to do is to make some changes in the registry (regedit.exe) file. It is highly recommended that you should backup your registry. This Blog's Author will not be liable if any damage occurs.

1) This is the first way you can rename Recycle Bin

1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type regedit and hit ENTER
4. In the registry editor go to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache

5. Find and Double click on the following value:
@C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll,-8964

Change Recycle Bin

6. Change the value to whatever you wish.
7. Click OK and close out regedit
8. Click on a blank area of the desktop and select refresh from the context menu.
9. After the screen refreshes, you recycle bin will be renamed to whatever you decided.

[via Tech-Recipes]

2) Here is the second way to Rename Recycle Bin

This trick is somewhat rough, hence it is optional. I used this trick and found my Recycle Bin renamed. If the first trick fails, you can do this at your own risk. This Blog's Author will not be liable if any damage occurs. It is highly recommended that you should backup your registry.

1. Click Start > Run
2. Type regedit
3. Press Ctrl+F to open search box and type Recycle Bin and search
4. Change what ever you found (Value/Data/Key) with Recycle Bin to Desired Name
5. Press F3 to continue searching for 'Recycle Bin'
6. Repeat step 4 until you have finished with searching and changed all values to its new name.
7. Close regedit and refresh desktop, You will find the Recycle Bin is Renamed.

Motorola's concept Cellphone with Dual Camera

Motoconcept

Motorola developed a concept mobile phone which is having two camera's. This is not like other cellphones having one camera on front and another is at back. This model is designed by Paris-based Lysandre Follet.

Motorola claims, you can use multi-tasking functionality on it. While shooting with one camera user can take pictures with the another one.

What is even more interesting about this handset is its ability to create 3D images. Users can actually create 3D images with the help of special transparent gels to be applied on the lenses of both cameras; for instance, red transparent gel over one lens and blue over the other.

With these uncommon features, it includes the regular features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity, email, multimedia player, and a wide display. There is no chance for the availability of this phone in the market anytime soon.

This bomb shaped data storage device is designed by Mexico City industrial designer Joel Escalona. The USB bomb should keep your data safe, since its design is likely to deter to anybody who might have thoughts of stealing it, lest they might get blown to smithereens. The device looks like one of those bombs that Wile E. Coyote might have purchased from the ACME catalog, or maybe from those old Spy vs. Spy cartoons in MAD magazine.

NewsGlobe - Visualize Breaking News on a Rotating 3D Globe

Yahoo! NewsGlobe

Lucas J. Shuman an engineer of Yahoo!'s Media Innovation Group has created a new way to browse Yahoo News top stories. He used latest Adobe Flash Player and ActionScript 3 to create this tool.

The Yahoo! NewsGlobe represents the information or breaking new in a virtual environment. It consist of basic pieces: a Yahoo! News Top Stories RSS feed, a geo-encoding web service from Yahoo! Maps, and a free, open-source library of 3D classes for ActionScript 3 called Papervision3D. The application loads the Y! News RSS feed every few minutes and extracts the dateline for each story. It sends this descriptive textual information off to the Yahoo! Maps service to find a matching location, and return latitude and longitude coordinates for it. The rest is simply a matter of using the 3D classes in ActionScript to create a visually engaging experience that's either automated or interactive.

2 Secret ways to get more from your Gmail Address

Gmail Logo

After revealing the use and benefits of Personal Level Indicators in Gmail nearly two days ago. Robby Stein, Associate Product Marketing Manager of Gmail recently discovered some little-known ways to use your Gmail address that can give you greater control over your inbox and save you some time and headache.

Below tips will teach you how to make use of your gmail address beyond you@gmail.com.

Here are the two secret ways you can modify your Gmail Address and still get emails.

  1. Append a plus ("+") sign and any combination of words or numbers after your email address. suppose you are having gmail address you@gmail.com, you could send or receive emails on you+friends@gmail.com or you+business@gmail.com.
  2. Insert one or several dots (".") anywhere in your email address. Gmail doesn't recognize periods as characters in addresses -- it just ignore them. Again suppose you have gmail address you@gmail.com, you could tell people your address as y.o.u@gmail.com or y.ou@gmail.com you can add wherever you want the dot in your username.

You will receive all emails sent to your modified gmail address at your original email address.

The most useful feature of this is to filter out emails very easily and quickly. Robby Stein explains it as

For me, the real value in being able to manipulate your email address is that it makes it really easy to filter on those variants. For example you could use hikingfan+bank@gmail.com when you sign up for online banking and then set up a filter to automatically star, archive or label emails addressed to hikingfan+bank. You can also use this when you register for a service and think they might share your information. For example, I added "+donation" when I gave money to a political organization once, and now when I see emails from other groups to that address, I know how they got it. Solution: filtered to auto-delete.

Personal Level Indicators in Gmail

Gmail Logo

Gmail again revealed a new feature called "Personal Level Indicators" which will help you to prioritize your gmails. When you enable this option, it put arrows next to messages in your inbox so you can tell if an email was addressed to you, a group, or a mailing list that you're on.

To enable this option

Personal Level Indicators

Click on Settings located at upper right corner. In General tab find Personal Level Indicators option then select it to Show Indicators and click on Save Changes.

You will see little arrows next to your emails.

arrows

A single arrow ("›") is automatically placed next to emails sent to you and others, and double arrows ("»") next to emails that are sent just to you. No arrow indicates this email is from mailing lists.

Give it a Try, I found this very useful.
